The Crumple Flex Tester is designed to determine the resistance of fabrics, leather, coated textiles, and similar flexible materials to cracking, surface deterioration, and structural damage caused by simultaneous bending and compression.
During testing, a 220 × 190 mm specimen is subjected to repeated bending by the specimen bending disc and controlled compression by the specimen compression disc. The bending mechanism operates at a speed of 200 ±10 rpm, while the compression mechanism operates at 152 ±4 rpm. This combined movement simulates the mechanical stresses that flexible materials may experience during use.
The test is terminated when the preset number of test cycles has been completed or when the specimen exhibits visible signs of deterioration, cracking, or other damage. The integrated test cycle counter can record up to 999,999 cycles, enabling controlled and repeatable testing procedures.
Operating with a 220 V, 50 Hz power supply, the instrument features a transparent Plexiglas safety cover, an electrostatic powder-coated body, and a robust, maintenance-free mechanical structure. Its durable and reliable design makes it suitable for textile, leather, coated-fabric, research, and quality-control laboratories.
