BCT BOX COMPRESSION TEST EQUIPMENT 01/04/2022

Box Compression Test (BCT) equipment are designed to test the compression strength of corrugated cardboards in accordance with international standards. Compression or squeezing strength is the capability of a material to resist against loads that tend to reduce its size. The materials to be tested are subjected to squeezing and compression tests in order to determine their strength to squeezing, their deformation and their piling capacity.

BCT test device: This is a tester used to determine the piling and load carrying capacity of corrugated cardboard boxes. It determines the strength of corrugated cardboard boxes against squeezing from top to bottom.

GENERAL TEST PRINCIPLE

The sample of corrugated cardboard box or packaging to be tested is placed and centred on the lower plate of the tester. When the test has started, the upper plate comes down and starts applying a load on the sample. This force is controlled by means of a load cell. When the system senses a deformation in the sample in the form of crushing, bending, breaking etc., the upper plate returns to its initial position.

DVT DEVOTRANS manufactures multi-functional BCT testers for conducting compression / squeezing tests on boxes. Some of these testers, which are used to conduct compression tests on boxes and each of which has its own specific features, are listed below:

BCT testers, some of which are mentioned above as examples, are available in different sizes and come with different features. They are used to conduct a number of tests including in particular compression, fracture and permanent deformation tests on a number of products including in particular corrugated cardboards and plastic pipes. These testers are used to conduct compression, closing, fracture, bending, permanent deformation tests etc. on corrugated cardboards, plastic pipes, glass, porcelain, ceramic tiles, cement-based materials, automotive products, construction-based materials, forest products and so on.

The testers mentioned above are used to conduct crush, fracture and permanent deformation tests on packaged products by subjecting the samples to pressure. These testers are used to conduct tests on such products as electric home appliance packaging, sheet metal, tin cans, plastic buckets, safe-boxes, rubbish containers, palettes, corrugated cardboard boxes, chipboards, MDF, wooden coffers and pipes. As examples of tests conducted with these testers one may mention ring stiffness tests for pipes, squeezing tests, fracture tests, bending tests, permanent deformation tests, puncture tests, transportation simulation tests and so on.
