An Izod impact test is a test method used to evaluate the strength of a material against environmental conditions and mechanical impacts.
This test is used particularly to determine the strength of plastics, polymers and other impact-sensitive materials.
The Izod impact test measures the fracture behaviour of the sample by subjecting it to impacts with a given amount of energy.
The Izod test is based on procedures prescribed by standards such as ASTM D256 or ISO 180.
