The 3-point bending test is a test method used to evaluate the bending strength, elasticity modulus and other bending properties of a material. It is often used to determine the properties of bars, plates and similar plane materials. The sample is placed in a 3-point support device. This device involves three support points: 2 under the two extremities of the sample and 1 over a point in the middle of the sample. The test device applies a load to the upper surface of the sample. This load makes the sample bend under the support point in the middle of the sample. As the load gradually increases, one notes the bending behaviour of the sample.
